I’m Sadie Lore. I make fine art photography with a story to share.
I’ve always admired light, the way it changes the scenery adds and removes depth, saturates fields with rich vibrant colours. Light and colour have the power to evoke memories and emotions, from treasured moments to some we’d rather not relive and need to in order to heal.
Things which catch my attention are the forgotten elements, things like the back of the daffodil, the dried paperey outershell contrasting with the green and the light refreacting through the petals highlighting all the textures.
When I’m out I’m looking for the smaller details like the tiny flower which blends in to the shingle on dungeness beach, a range of texture which contrast and show both the delicacy and the strength of nature.
Large scale projects can take months with some taking years to create especially when there is a more nuanced conversation and has a full time line to cover. Smaller projects take a couple of weeks these are usually based around a theme or a place.
I’ve always loved photography’s power of capturing a moment, how they are crafted to change the perception of you and me. I always loved how you can look at a painting, a photograph and always find something a little different.
Sadie Lore isn’t my true name, it is the name I go under for my photography. Using my true surname would make it an pure nightmare for people to spell let alone remember. I feel the Lore is representative of the work I create the storytelling within the images and collections.
Lore also represnts my love of books, of reading and of being inspired by the verbal retellings of ancient warnings, and understanding of how the world works. The folktales we read, always have some element of truth and it’s fun to try and figure out what the truth is.
How the prints are made
I use a digital mirrorless camera, with an interchangable lens, always shot in raw to capture all the tiny details of tonanlity changes. I then import these images into Adobe Lightroom to make initial edits to colour correct and Photoshop for the larger clean-ups of debri, distractions and dust.
My photographs are printed on Giclee with certification from a printer with years of experience in printing. Glicee is printed on acid-free papers using lightfast pigmant inks specifically for fine art and as such if aechival to museum standards.
Your prints displayed in normal conditions, will last for over 100 years, you can extend the life of the print by framing with uv-blocking glass, displaying your print on a wall which doesn’t have any direct sunlight and keeping the room cool with low humidity. In dark storage your print ca last up to 200 years.
The printers I use are also UK based.
About the editions
Every image is released as a limited edition. Once an edition closes it is never reprinted, in that size or any other. Each print is signed and numbered, and comes with a short certificate giving the title, the edition number and the year.
One print from every edition is held back and never offered for sale. That is the artist’s proof, and it stays with me for exhibitions, displays and the archive. So an edition of ten means nine prints are available to buy.
